Assistant Manager, Public and Media Relations

Full-time Position

SAM is looking for a creative and media-savvy individual to join our marketing and communications team.  You’ll be expected to grow the mind share and awareness of SAM and its programming through media and public relations, and support marketing efforts for the museum.


A team player, the ideal candidate thinks out of the box, is organised, well read, able to write well, and work within tight deadlines and on multiple projects. You will have a keen interest in the museum and the visual arts sector and would like to contribute to this growing industry.




1. PR Management

  • Assist in the planning and execution of PR campaigns
  • Manage the preparation of media releases, FAQs, story bank and pitching angles for the museum, its exhibitions and programmes
  • Pitch stories to the media, field media questions and requests, and facilitate interviews
  • Plan and organise media previews and press conferences
  • Prepare talking points and speeches as required
  • Prepare media coverage reports, with analyses and insights
  • Manage external media partners and vendors 

2. Marketing Support

  • Develop advertising and marketing communications material (including annual reports)
  • Assist with the establishment of marketing partnerships and initiatives for the museum and exhibitions
  • Prepare post-campaign reports to identify trends and insights
  • Prepare a monthly analysis report that benchmarks against pre-determined KPIs

3. Content Development

  • Manage the development of visual and video contents for publicity use, including the management of archival photography and videography for the museum and its programmes
  • Co-ordinate video campaigns as required, from story-boarding to the planning of film schedules, for use across digital platforms and for PR purposes

4. Event Management Support

  • Manage the planning and execution of media and VIP previews and exhibition openings
  • Assist with the planning and execution of other Marcoms-initiated events





  • University degree, preferably with 3-4 years of experience in media relations and marketing
  • An excellent communicator (verbal and written) and a creative thinker
  • Organised, self-motivated, and deadline- and detail-oriented
  • Comfortable with data and technology, including the use of Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
  • Able to work beyond office hours, including weekends and public holidays, whenever necessary
  • Having a passion for museums and/ or art, in particular, contemporary art is a bonus
