Senior Manager, Partnership and Patronage

Full-time Position

The Singapore Art Museum is offering an outgoing and enterprising individual the unique opportunity to contribute to SAM’s fundraising efforts for the long-term sustainability of the museum. You will need to raise significant funds for the building project as well as for on-going and future programming. You will work closely with a small but dynamic team to cultivate and provide stewardship of corporate and individual partners including sponsors, donors, and patrons. 

 

 

PRINCIPAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

1. Secure major gifts and sponsorship while growing SAM’s database of potential and actual partners

  • Network effectively to secure donations and sponsorship for SAM
  • Work closely with key departments to develop relevant sponsorship proposals 
  • Research and prepare compelling packages to offer prospects
  • Identify and cultivate prospects   
  • Pitch effectively and persuasively to potential partners
  • Develop hosting opportunities that generate leads and grow relationships with existing and potential partners
  • Conceptualise effective and innovative fundraising campaigns 
  • Leverage established personal networks to expand SAM’s existing database
  • Manage contractual negotiations and obligations 
     

2. Provide effective stewardship of partners

  • Track SAM’s historical giving to re-engage former patrons
  • Develop good rapport with all partners and ensure consistent stewardship of all patrons
  • Establish ways to engage patrons regularly on a sustainable basis to prevent donor fatigue
  • Utilising good project-planning skills, work closely with relevant SAM departments to ensure the implementation of sponsor programmes fulfill all contractual benefits
       

3. Research, prepare, and submit applications to grant-making bodies

  • Identify foundations and grant-making bodies with causes aligned to SAM’s mandate 
  • Work closely with key departments to customise compelling proposals
  • Closely monitor and meet grant criteria and submission/reporting deadlines
  • Prepare and submit post-project reports
          

4. General administration and communications

  • Prepare compelling briefing materials for internal and external meetings to attain buy-in of internal teams and prospective external partners 
  • Prepare necessary agreements and paperwork to formalise and secure partnerships
  • Observe due procurement processes to ensure necessary paperwork is submitted to finance department to process all incoming monies and to generate tax relief receipts
  • Oversee the annual nominations for NAC’s Patron of the Arts Awards
  • Oversee regular maintenance of databases and keep track of budgets 
  • Prepare appreciation letters for active partners 
  • Prepare EDMs for fundraising campaigns 
  • Keep abreast of international and local art calendar and events
  • Regularly keep management and relevant teams aware of latest developments, opportunities, and deadlines with regard to fundraising 
  • Serve as Secretariat to Development Committee: organise thrice-yearly Development Committee meetings – preparing and circulating meeting agenda and minutes
  • Serve as a primary contact for all partners

 

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
 

  • Degree holder with relevant experience in the areas of fundraising, sponsorship, donor relations, or development services. 
  • At least 10 years of work experience
  • Driven, goal-oriented, and resourceful self-starter with proven ability to lead 
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build trust and productive relationships
  • Adept in different social settings and able to network effectively  
  • A mature lateral-thinking problem solver with a positive and strategic mindset 
  • Strong planning and critical-thinking abilities 
  • Ace communicator (both verbal and written) with high EQ 
  • Resilient, adaptable, analytical, organised, detail-oriented, and industrious
  • Ability to work congenially with internal teams and external partners
  • Excellent Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills and skills to efficiently manage databases 
  • Ability to manage several projects simultaneously and meet firm deadlines under pressure
  • Wide network of appropriate contacts would be advantageous 
  • Familiarity and interest in the arts & cultural sector a bonus
