Senior Manager, Partnership and Patronage

Full-time Position

The Singapore Art Museum is offering a seasoned fundraiser the unique opportunity to contribute to SAM’s development efforts for the long-term sustainability of the museum. You will need to raise significant funds for the building project as well as for programming. You will work closely with a small but dynamic team to cultivate and provide stewardship of corporate and individual partners including donors, sponsors and patrons. Only suitable and serious applicants will be shortlisted through a written assignment.




1. Secure Significant Donations for SAM’s Capital Campaign and Programming


  • Source and cultivate key prospects 
  • Effectively transition prospective donors to major donors 
  • Secure significant donations with the aim of establishing an endowment fund 
  • Grow SAM’s network of prospects and partners
  • Work closely with key departments to customise relevant sponsorship proposals
  • Pitch appropriately and persuasively to a wide variety of potential partners
  • Develop hosting opportunities that generate leads and grow relationships with existing and potential partners
  • Conceptualise effective and innovative fundraising campaigns 
  • Leverage established personal networks to expand SAM’s existing database



2. Effective Stewardship of Partners 

  • Launch and run a new Patrons’ Programme for the museum 
  • Maintain good rapport with partners and ensure consistent stewardship of patrons
  • Ensure the implementation of sponsored programmes fulfil all contractual benefits 



3. Grant Applications

  • Research, prepare and submit applications to grant-making bodies
  • Closely monitor and meet grant criteria and submission/reporting deadlines 
  • Prepare and submit post-project reports 



4. General Administration

  • Undertake contractual negotiations and ensure terms are met
  • Prepare compelling briefing materials for internal and external meetings to attain buy-in of internal teams and prospective external partners 
  • Prepare necessary agreements and paperwork to formalise and secure partnerships
  • Observe due procurement processes to ensure fund movements adhere to proper governance and tax requirements
  • Oversee SAM’s annual nominations for NAC’s Patron of the Arts Awards
  • Oversee regular maintenance of databases and assist Head, P&P with budget management 
  • Ensure compliance to non-profit and government regulations and  (e.g. IPC concessions, IRAS tax benefits, CMF applications, etc)
  • Facilitate the appropriate and necessary auditing of funds raised and disbursed 
  • Keep abreast of international and local art calendar, and maintain good network and relations within the art industry
  • Keep relevant teams aware of latest fundraising developments, opportunities and deadlines 
  • Serve as Secretariat to Development Committee: organise thrice-yearly meetings 
  • Supervise and mentor junior team members



5. Line Management

  • Supervise Assistant Manager and/or Manager of Partnership and Patronage team, as well as any interns or temporary contract staff. This includes monitoring their performance and progress alongside the team’s work plans. 
  • Mentor reportees, optimise their learning opportunities and guide them in charting personal and career development 
  • Conduct regular meetings or discussions to ascertain team members’ workloads and performance are adequate
  • Undertake annual performance appraisals and performance management of reportees
  • Work closely with other SAM departments to ensure smooth communication and information exchange for the fulfilment of internal and external deliverables  




  • Degree holder with strong business acumen and relevant experience in the areas of fundraising, development, donor relations or wealth management. 
  • Familiarity with Singapore non-profit government sector practices and regulations (e.g. IRAS, Charities Act, MAS, etc) 
  • At least 12 years of relevant work experience
  • Ideally with experience in capital campaigns
  • Driven, goal-oriented and resourceful self-starter with proven ability to lead 
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build trust and productive relationships
  • Outgoing and adept in different social settings and able to network effectively  
  • A mature lateral-thinking problem solver with a positive and strategic mindset 
  • Strong planning and critical-thinking abilities 
  • Ace communicator (both verbal and written) with high EQ 
  • Resilient, adaptable, analytical, organised, detail-oriented and industrious
  • Ability to work congenially with internal teams and external partners
  • Excellent Excel and PowerPoint skills, and experience in managing databases 
  • Ability to manage several projects simultaneously and meet firm deadlines under pressure
  • Wide network of appropriate contacts would be advantageous 
  • Familiarity and interest in the arts & cultural sector a bonus
  • Strong references a necessity
