PowerPoint Party ✧・: * what a girl wants *:・✧
Join us for SAM's first PowerPoint Party ✧・: * what a girl wants *:・✧!
Wear your best pajamas and come along for a slumber party themed night. To start, there will be interactive activities, junk journalling, temporary tattoos, press-on nails, and photo-taking opportunities! Afterwards, you will hear from a range of women reflecting on the experiences of girlhood, and on challenging societal norms in Singapore. Spend your Saturday evening at this cosy and fun party.
The party is inspired by the themes of performativity and expressions of womanhood from SAMCollection: The Present is Unstable. What are the historical roles assigned to women? What are the possibilities of refusing them? Who determines the role of women in society? Responding to this, the PowerPoint party creates space for unapologetic dialogue about contemporary womanhood and girlhood in Singapore.
This programme acts as a means to speak power to women's experiences, and to reclaim space for women in this busy city.

Prompt 1: Paint the Town Red
We celebrate womanhood in all its reckless abandon! Well-behaved women seldom make history, and we want to know your take. Convince us of a social rule, expectation, or construct that should be eliminated and subverted—or pitch one that doesn't exist yet, but absolutely should.
Prompt 2: What It Feels Like for a Girl
What did growing up as a girl look like for you? Think rolled-up school skirts, secret ear piercings at Far East Plaza, or the unspoken rules of a convent school. Tell us about a rite of passage that shaped you and what it says about girlhood here. (Grew up elsewhere? We’d love to hear your story too!)
