Singapore Night Festival 2019: 'Detour Pavilion'

SMU Campus Green

For this year's Singapore Night Festival 2019, SAM is featuring the Detour Pavilion, an installation that weaves together references from lesser-known stories and images of the Bras Basah-Bugis area.

Slip into this uncanny portal constructed with hand-painted panels designed in collaboration with traditional sign-painters, and featuring natural, cultural and historical motifs. Take a detour through its passageway, to experience abstracted visualisations of the Bras Basah precinct generated by an artificial neural network from descriptions about its neighbourhood, its past lives and present.
