Bolun Shen works across social practice and interaction that manifest into performances staged in public space, theatre, and within multimedia installations. Working largely across China, Bolun’s practice prioritises conversations with communities that get weaved into the narrative structures of the artwork. Often, the participants take centre stage in an open-debate setting to discuss issues ranging from democratic action to social issues brought upon by rapid industrial change.

While in residence, Bolun will engage with a range of communities to focus reach on the changing conventions surrounding the emergence of newer democratic structures in Asia.
