EX-SITU: Art Spaces Residency || 10 Jun to 30 Jun 2025
Futura Trōpica Netroots is an InterTropical Net of Grass-Root Local Networks connecting communities, practitioners, and LAN•scapes within the Tropical Belt (Latin America and the Caribbean, the African Continent, South Asia, Southeast Asia and the Pacific). Braiding together relational and hanging•structural nets, Futura Trōpica grows and provides frames and time•spaces for the lateral exchange—of endemic, situated knowledges, resources, and technologies—from a Tropikós perspective that redefines the Tropics as both region and mindset. Rooted in intertropical liquidarity, Futura Trōpica brings together a constellation of practitioners co-crafting masala protocols: elastic generative systems for pluriversing technologies and the rendering of a multiplicity of realities. Through the formation of research netting groups, their first iterations have included Bogotá and Sibundoy (Colombia), Kinshasa (DR Congo), and Bengaluru (India), and later on have included Kampala (Uganda), Manila (Philippines), Martinique, and most recently practitioners in Belém do Pará (Brazil), Lusaka (Zambia), Karachi (Pakistan), and Yogyakarta (Indonesia)
While in residence, Futura Trōpica continue to build upon their upcoming project which examines pluriversal data carriers and containers of knowledges. Departing from Singapore’s urbanistic AC tactics, bubble structures and tamed versions of the tropics, the project is an examination on technologies, nets and development in the tropics.
