1. GREAT WORLD IN A CAROUSEL

Workshop Space 2, SAM at 8Q Level 2
Hourly from 11AM – 6PM, about 45 minutes per session
Last session is at 5PM
On-site registration is required.

Did you know that there were three different “worlds” in Singapore history? New World, Great World and Gay World (formerly Happy World) were amusement parks in Singapore established in the 1920s and 1930s, and had left unforgettable memories with many people of that generation.

Inspired by Hilmi Johandi’s An Exposition for the President’s Young Talents 2018 exhibition, create your own Great World in a Carousel as you learn accordion paper folding techniques and the history of amusement parks in Singapore.

2. PEACOCK FINGER PUPPET

Workshop Space 1, SAM at 8Q Level 2
From 11AM – 6PM, about 15 minutes per session

This hands-on workshop is inspired by rangoli (an Indian art form in which patterns are created using colourful natural materials) and the peacock, both of which bear symbolical significance in Indian culture.

Put together an array of materials, colours and patterns to create unique peacock tail feathers, and explore the exhibition with you very own peacock finger puppets!
