An Chorong uses the photographic medium as a tool of transformation. Examining the human relationship to photography in today’s landscape of rapid consumption, replacement and discarding of images, her practice considers what a photograph can be. Chorong thinks through the nature of photography,in a time when intangible data becomes tangible material. In this pursuit, she experiments intuitively, stretching the possibilities and capabilities of digital photography to transform them into various forms and materials.

While in residence, Chorong will continue probing into the concept of the “photo image” in light of photography’s relationship with reality. This will extend to experiments with pigments and reproducibility of prints in making a unique work.
